Welcome to Grade One!

I'm happy to have my blog up and running now for the grade one 2016-17 school year!  The children have been settling into the routines and expectations of grade one very well and are proving themselves to be a very enthusiastic and friendly group!  I look forward to the excitement and adventure of the upcoming school year with your lovely children.

The following are a list of upcoming dates and events that you should be aware of:

Wednesday, September 28th: Early dismissal at 2:00 for our Staff Collaboration meeting
Friday, September 30th: The Terry Fox Run will take place in the afternoon. Please ensure your child has runners or if it's raining, boots for the run.  Grade ones will be joining the older children in running or walking around the perimeter of the school as many times as they can or wish to during the allotted time.  Parents are welcome to come and watch the students to cheer them on.  Students are asked to bring a toonie if possible, to donate in support of cancer research (they may bring the toonie any day, Wednesday to Friday for the collection).  Thank you!
Friday is also Orange Shirt Day (district-wide); your child may choose to wear an orange shirt to support the First Nations community on that day also.
